Not Knowing Where Things Stand

Last week I went for my 2nd opinion doctors appointment for my shoulder replacement.  What I learned is that getting a custom made shoulder replacement isn’t as easy as it was 4 years ago when I had the other one done.  There are new regulations concerning the replacement being made and we have to jump through hoops to get the process started and moving along.

For 8 months my doctors have been fighting for this and right now I’m not sure exactly how close or far away I stand from having the shoulder replacement done.

I was thinking that by now I would be in the recuperation stage, but I am still waiting.

What I do know, is that for months the pain has been getting more and more worse.  I was finally able to get on a medicine that has been helping and hasn’t made me sick.

So I went to get the necessary 2nd opinion and the doctor knew right away that this needed to be done.  Simply by looking at the X-Ray you can tell.  I have lost a total of an inch of bone from my shoulder.  I am at the point where surgery is still possible, and I pray that things can continue to move along and hoping that things will come together.

We’ve already been fighting for 8 months, so I’m hoping we don’t have to fight for a whole lot longer.  But for now it feels like there is a lot of uncertainties with everything.  I’m hoping that I start getting answers very soon.
